Model Stations 

 

Text Box:           Irrespective of categorization, some of the stations have been designated as Model Station. Depending on their categories, additional facilities have been envisioned for them. Modernisation of Enquiry SystemText Box: COMPUTERISATION OF COMPLAINTS AND ENQUIRIES
Handling of complaints and enquiries have been computerized at the following 7 major stations : 
 
In addition to these stations, all the Divisional Head Quarters Offices as well a Zonal Head Quarters have been networked through e-mail for expeditious remedial action on complaints etc. The Global Enquiry system is able to provide passengers with upto date data regarding routes, fares, choice of trains etc. and at a later date will also provide current status of train running.

Apart from feeding terminals at 4 divisional control offices, enquiry terminals are available at the following 8 main enquiry offices under National Train Enquiry System (NTES). 
 
It is proposed to set up National Train Enquiry System at Ranchi, Baleswar and Bokaro Steel City.       
Improvements in Pasenger Information ServiceText Box: INTERACTIVE VOICE RESPONSE SYSTEM (IVRS)
Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) which prompts the person and gives specific information about train running or status of reservation provided at the following 9 stations:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Text Box: COMPUTERISED PASSENGER COACH GUIDANCE SYSTEM
Computerisation of Passenger Coach Guidance System :- A computerized Passenger Coach Guidance System has been developed and installed at the South Eastern Railway terminal of Howrah, Ranchi and Kharagpur (PF-5,6)  and Tatanagar(PF-1,3) stations. In this system, the position of various coaches of the trains standing at the platforms can be indicated through LED displays controlled from a PC. The display indicates coach position of both outgoing and incoming trains. The system has been highly appreciated by the travelling public. A work has been sanctioned and is in progress for provision of similar computerized passenger coach guidance system at Tatanagar and Rourkela stations.

Reservation Availability Position Indication Display (RAPID) boards interconnected with Computerized Reservation System is available at Reservation Office. Work for provision of such boards for two more stations i.e. Tatanagar and Ranchi is under progress. 
Text Box: COMPUTERISED   RESERVATION   COUNTERS 
Computerized   Reservation   counters are   now   available   at   the   following   46 locations/ satellite offices on South Eastern Railway : - 
Text Box: GLOBAL NETWORKING 
Global Networking between all Passenger Reservation Systems on Indian Railway has been introduced since March 1999. By this, it is possible to have universal computerized reservation counters where passengers can book tickets from any place to any other place on Indian Railways without any restriction. 
Text Box: TATKAL SCHEME OF TRAIN RESERVATION 
For genuine/needy passengers who could not reserve their accommodation well in advance, South Eastern Railway has introduced Tatkal Sewa (Instant reservation) by all PRS trains in all classes.
